Our nature offer

For those who aim at spending their holiday in the wild, Commezzadura stands out as an ideal destination, with its wide and varied offer suiting the tastes of the whole family.

A host of walkways in the wilderness start from Commezzadura, with various degrees of difficulty, ranging from long, challenging hikes to relaxing strolls. All pathways are numbered and clearly marked.
You may also go mushroom picking with a special permit. This would be a unique occasion to bring back home the most genuine forest flavours of our land.

SENTER DE LA STRUPAIA – 118 (WOODEN FENCE PATH N. 118)

One of the most interesting paths in this area is the Senter de la Strupaia -118 (the Wooden Fence path n.118) The path begins between the Malga Panciana, which is at an altitude of 1800mt, and the Malga Alta of Mestriago, which is at an altitude of 1750 mt. This path has a difference of height of 130mt and it takes approximately 50 mins to complete. The path was once used by shepherds while leading their animals to summer pasture in the mountains. There is a wooden fence that runs along the path that was used to protect the animals during the crossing, hence the name “Senter de la Strupaia”. Strupaia is the term in dialect for wooden fence. Today, the wooden fence has been restored in order to remind everyone of what it was once used for. This path, which is particularly interesting from a naturalistic point of view, also represents a significant tribute that the entire community of Commezzadura wanted to dedicate to the remembrance of the 118 victims of the airplane accident that took place on October 8th, 2001 at Linate.
This path is suited for everyone due to the small difference in height and the time it takes to complete the path. It is itinerary # 15 on our Carta dei Sentieri (Path Map).

Map of trails and walks

If you long for a relaxing time, enjoy the quiet and shadow of the new river park, that is being completed along the river Noce and features barbecue facilities to enjoy delightful picnics.
Another attraction in Commezzadura is the so-called Percorso dei Larici Secolari (the Century-old larch tree path), located in the Tegia area, at 1800 m a.s.l.. Along the pathway stand over 25 larch trees of peculiar shapes. Some of them are dead on the ground, but still show their extraordinary features. All of them are policormic, that is their trunk is split into several close “child trunks”. The trees along the path show a further varied proliferation of tops, at different heights. The dendrochronological analysis showed that most trees date back to the 17th Century!

Some stretches of the Commezzadura area lie within the boundaries of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park, home to some of the most interesting wildlife species in the Alps: stroll amongst wonderful rhododendrons and gentianellae or scented nigritellae, all flower species protected throughout he Trento Province. In the quiet and silence of our mountains, listen to the whistle of marmots and gaze towards the highest peaks to see chamois and rock goats.

The Adamello Brenta Natural Park is a European leader in the Life Ursus project, aiming at reintroducing brown bears in our territory, where several dozens bears are already perfectly integrated within the local ecosystem.
At few kilometres form Commezzadura, plunge into the wildlife setting of the Stelvio National park. A daily schedule of walks and hikes within the Park’s boundaries has been developed with the assistance of experienced Park Guides, to allow you to contemplate the local fauna and flora and to savour unspoilt Alpine spring water.
