A unique project in Italy, the new lift facilities in Folgarida and Marilleva will be directly linked with the “Trento-Malè” railway, giving way to an intermodal car-rail-cable system, that will contribute do decrease the daily traffic to our ski area’s access points. The project will certainly help decongesting the Folgarida and Marilleva resorts in terms of commuter traffic, in compliance with the instructions provided by the “Tourism” Protocol of the Alps protection Convention, promoting any action aiming at reducing road traffic within tourist resorts by encouraging the use of public transport by tourists. The construction of the new lift facilities in Daolasa will have beneficial effects on road traffic, particularly as regards the ski bus links provided by the Valley hotels to drive their guests to and from the ski areas. The central position of the new lift system in the valley will certainly involve a reduction of ski bus traffic, which will have positive effects both in terms of energy saving and of air pollution.

The new construction site dedicated to the erection of civil works related to the new automatic-vicing “Daolasa-Bassetta del Vigo” cable car are scheduled to start this summer 2006. The 8-seat car lift will be split into two stretches (a first stretch up from 814 metres to 1373 metres, and a second stretch from 1373 metres to 2040 metres). The project shall also include a new “Mastellina” slope, down from 1850 metres a.s.l. to 1373 metres a.s.l.; a two-seat chairlift and a nursery slope at the so-called Malghetto di Mastellina, between 1373 and 1306 m a.s.l.; as well as snow making facilities. Some reinforcement works will also be performed along the Val del Duc torrent.
The new plant commissioning is scheduled to take place in December, 2007.

The Società Funivie Folgarida Marilleva spa has made a commitment to take all necessary measures to reduce any negative impacts on fauna and flora during the completion of works, in according to the strict provisions issued by the Provincia Autonoma di Trento.

WORK BEING CARRIED OUT ON THE SKILIFT CONNECTION

In spring 2006, work finally began on the new ski lift facilities and slopes that will allow Commezzadura to be directly linked to the Folgarida- Marilleva-Madonna di Campiglio ski lift facilities. Work is proceeding at a fast pace on several different work sites and it should be completed (if there are no unforeseen complications) by December 2007. In the meantime we have included some of the photos from the building yards with live images from a web-cam that is at the starting point of the Daolasa- Val Mastellina skilift.
